The River Reaper Trail Race is a new event paying homage to the retired Phlox Run, a legendary local race on the Grand Valley Trail system skirting the Grand River. While our trail network may lack serious elevation challenges, what it does provide is fast and smooth single track with a healthy dose of roots and rocks, away from the maddening crowds, in a pristine tract of Carolinian forest.
Don't let the gentle nature of our single track fool you, this is a trail runners trail race. Remote, isolated, very few aid stations or aid opportunities, you're out their on your own, just you and your 'stuff', as many of you like it...
The first iteration of The River Reaper will offer two distances. A shorter, less challenging 8k race for the the 'Apres All Day' crowd, and a longer half marathon-ish offering for those who are a little more prepared to meet their maker on any given day of reckoning.
We are donating most of the proceeds from The River Reaper to our local trail crew who continue to work hard at adding to our extensive network and maintaining it throughout every season. We will be updating this page regularly with more details.
Registration is now open and The River Reaper is waiting, lurking, run for your lives!

Use the links below to access the trail maps. The 8k is an out and back on the 21k course with a small turn around loop thrown in for good measure. You won't be able to see the turn around point on the strava map in the link, but it is highlighted below. It's a very small section that doesn't require an additional map.
